Amazon continues to flex it's e-commerce muscles dominating market share. Amazon is already the leader in the e-commerce world by accounting for 34% of all online sales in the U.S.. According to Wall Street firm Needham, this number is only going to go grow year over year. They predict that by 2021 Amazon will account for 50% of all U.S. e-commerce sales. With the help of their Amazon Prime program, mobile apps and other products (Alexa), Amazon's future and growth potential seems to be endless. The entire e-commerce market has grown as traditional retailer stores have seen a decline. Traditional larger retail companies are quickly trying to reinvent their business strategy to make up for lost sales in their stores by capturing a bigger piece of the pie from online shoppers. Even though retailers are seeing strong growth in their e-commerce business they are growing at a much slower rate than Amazon and are only competing for second place. The graph below that was put together by Needham & Co. shows Amazon's projected growth and dominance in the e-commerce war. If your companies products aren't listed correctly and professionally on Amazon you are putting yourself at a great disadvantage. If you decide to not list your products you are potentially missing out on 50% of potential customers who rely on Amazon to make their purchases. Also, by not taking a proactive approach to list your own products on Amazon and enroll your brand in Amazon Brand Registry, you are leaving the door open for other sellers to misrepresent your brand on Amazon.
